Last Saturday, Davao bloggers had a fun time at Honey Bear Chicken House. The food was great and as usual eating with such a great group of blogger friends made it an unforgettable experience. It’s definitely a good preview of how things are going to be during this week’s Davao Food Appreciation Tour.

Our meal started right with Cheese Sticks perfectly fried and gooey. It was served with a light chili dip which contrasted well with the cheese. It was followed by fish and chips. The fish was juicy, and tasty. Delicious!

Then came platter after platter of delicious main dishes: Beef Stroganoff, Sausage with Mashed Potatoes, Baby Back Ribs, and of course Whole Fried Chicken. The chicken had a distinct flavor and it was fully cooked but not dry. My favorite was the beef stroganoff which had a nice mix of tender beef slices, mushrooms, and a sauce all on top of al dente pasta.

We were also served some Filipino dishes: Bulalo Steak and Kare-Kare. My pick among the two is the bulalo. It tasted just like bulalo soup only with out the soup and the vegetables, but with gravy and toasted garlic bits. It was heavenly.

I had my meal with the Rootbeer Float while the other ordered plain old iced tea. After the main dishes we were served a trio of chocolate and vanilla desserts: Mud Slide, Chocolate Sundae and Yo! Ala Mode. The best-seller was the Yo! Ala Mode which consisted of a warm fudgy brownie with cold vanilla ice cream on top.

We will definitely go back for more Honey Bear goodness!

My apologies for not being able to join last Saturday. 🙁 I’m really sad about it. Really sad about it. Whaah! Huhuhu…
