Caffe Vivere
March 4th, 2008

After the first time I ate at Caffe Vivere, I immediately became a fan. The place has great ambiance and serves great food. Their prices are not high, but they never scrimp on the ingredients. In fact, I like the place so much that I joined their speed dating event. Last week, me and my blogger friends visited the place for our Davao Bloggers Food Trip. There were 6 of us, none went home disappointed.
Our scrumptious lunch began with Buttered Garlic Bread served with Salsa Verde (basil pesto) and Sun-dried Tomatoes Pesto. The bread was very buttery, YUMMM! And the sauces were perfect. They were not too oily and didn’t have any overwhelming garlic taste.

Davao Food Appreciation Tour
February 27th, 2008
As an offshoot of the very successful (despite naysayers) Davao Food Trip, The Usual Suspects is now preparing for the Davao Food Appreciation Tour, fondly called Davao FAT!
The Davao FAT will be a three day tour of Davao City that will center on food and eating. This will be held from March 14 - 16, 2008, in time for Araw ng Davao. Most meals during this event will be for free for all registered participants. It will surely be a yumtastic experience for bloggers from around the Philippines.

By 2009, Holiday Oceanview Resort & Spa will open its doors to the public. Holiday Oceanview Resort & Spa is a project of the Bangayan Group of Companies which counts among its businesses Holiday Taxi, Holiday Spa, Venue, Wheels n More, and the Center for Asian Culinary Studies in Davao.
Holiday Oceanview Resort & Spa is a PhP300 million project in Samal Island which includes a hotel, a condominium complex, a marina, and a subdivision. The project is sure to boost the tourism industry in the Island Garden City of Samal, and consequently, Davao City.

Sugar Munch
February 19th, 2008

Belgian Truffle (PhP 70)
While searching for a new place to have some desserts, the MDC Team stumbled upon Sugar Munch. I was also eager to try it out so I can include it in my directory of local cake makers for my Wedding Coordination business. We were not disappointed when we saw the giant ref full of mini and full-sized cakes.

White Chocolate Mousse (PhP 70)
Avenida
February 15th, 2008

I am not a fan of bangus (milkfish). I don’t hate it, but I don’t eat it if not forced too. But the moment I tasted Avenida’s Bangus dish, I fell in love with it. The fish was not dry, it was flavorful. The tomatoes, onions, and other vegetables on top were delicious. YUM!

Davao Flowers
February 12th, 2008

I recently went somewhere in the Marilog District for a work-related event. And I was mesmerized once again by the beauty of the flowers that are bred and sold there. You’d think these flowers can only be bought from abroad, Baguio, or Tagaytay. But locals, in fact, breed and sell them for very low, low prices.
Fagioli Coffee Club
February 6th, 2008

Mocha Java Fagiogranita (PhP 90)
The number of restaurants and cafes sprouting everywhere in Davao City is proof of the city’s burgeoning food service industry. One of our recent discoveries is Fagioli Coffee Club. Fagioli is an import from General Santos City that opened a branch last December here in Lanang. I tried out their Mocha Java Fagiogranita and I loved it. The texture was great, it had a moderate amount of whipped cream but it was a tad sweeter than the usual Mocha drinks I drink.
Green Iced Tea, Peach Mango Iced Tea (PhP 60 each)
Casting Call for a Visayan Indie Film
February 3rd, 2008
A service announcement from Yam’s Multiply:
We are in need of Visayan actors for an indie film entitled “The ‘Thank You’ Girls’ scheduled to be shot in Davao City on March 2008. Audition will be on FEB. 22, 2008 in DAVAO CITY (specific venue to be announced later) so if you know people who will be interested in the area, kindly tell them.
“The ‘Thank You’ Girls” is a roadtrip comedy about five dysfunctional gay beauty pageant veterans who always lose in gay beauty pageants. They then decide to travel from Davao to Cagayan de Oro City thinking they have better chances of winning in the provinces.
STRAIGHT ACTORS CAN AUDITION.
Also, if you are an unsigned alternative rock band who has recorded music, we are in need of songs for the film’s soundtrack.
