Philippine Eagle Center Open House on Saturday

In celebration of the annual Philippine Eagle Week on June 4-10, the Philippine Eagle Center will be an Open House whole day Saturday, June 2, 2007 . No entrance fees to get into the Center and enjoy the beauty of the Philippine Eagle and other Philippine wildlife!

The Philippine Eagle Center is home to Pag-asa and over 30 other Philippine Eagles, more than half of which have been bred at the Center. It also houses many other species of birds, mammals and reptiles, as well as various plant species. Simulating a tropical rain forest environment, the Center offers a glimpse into the country’s forest ecosystem.

The Center also features “Diola’s Forest ,” where young visitors can learn more about the eagle and the environment through the “Touch and Learn” computer-animated learning modules, eagle artifacts, books and toys. Visitors may also have picnics at the Center’s kiosks and picnic tables for no additional charges.

“This year also marks the Philippine Eagle Foundation’s 20th Anniversary,” PEF Communications Officer Tatit Quiblat, added. “So everyone’s invited to come on Saturday and share this milestone with us. We could not have succeeded in our 20 year-history without the backing of our many friends and eagle supporters.”

The Philippine Eagle Center is open from 8am to 5pm daily. The Philippine Eagle Week celebrations kick off with a motorcade on Saturday from Magsaysay Park all the way to the Eagle Center . Activities for the Eagle Week also include a Treeplanting Caravan from Davao City to Arakan Valley on June 8, Exhibits at SM City Davao from June 4-9, and an Environmental Arts Workshop scheduled on June 29-30.
