Davao filmmaker Sherad Anthony Sanchez is continuing to reap praises for his much-praised independent film Huling Balyan ng Buhi. After winning awards from Cinema One as one of the best Cinema One Originals film, it is now nominated for multiple categories for the 2007 Gawad Urian given by the Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino.

The movie earned a nomination as the Best Picture of 2006. Sanchez is also up for the Best Director Award. Other categories in which the film is nominated for are Best Musical Score, Best Cinematography, and Best Screenplay. Among its nominations, I think it has the best chance of getting the Best Musical Score and Best Cinematography accolades. But I hope it gets all the awards it is nominated for, not just because Sanchez is from Davao, but because it is one of the best films I have seen in a while.
