Did you know Davao’s Kadayawan Festival is the only major festival in the Philippines that is not rooted in Christian feast? Rather, it is a thanksgiving celebration that features the unique melting pot culture of Davao. It gives tribute and highlights the 10 tribes of Davao, the source of Davao’s rich history, arts, and culture.

In celebration of Kadayawan 2015, Marco Polo Davao shines the spotlight on Davao’s unique arts and culture through a unique Kadayawan Art Exhbit. The exhibit features Davao’s culture expressed through the modern arts of fashion design and photography.

Prawns Thermidore by Polo Bistro of Marco Polo Davao

Polo Bistro

As part of the Davao Food Appreciation Tour, fourteen very lucky bloggers ate a five-course meal at the Polo Bistro Pool Lounge of the Marco Polo Hotel.

First off, we tried the very peppery (but not spicy) Pepper-Crusted Seared Tuna served with Cucumber and Kani Relish. It was very successful in making our tongues be prepared for more Continental Cuisine delights prepared by Sous Chef Alex Bomanlag.

After the appetizer, we were served the very rich, very flavorful, and very, very cheesy French Onion Soup with Parmesan, Mozarella, and Ementhal Cheeses. Being a cheese-lover, I was enamored with the French Onion Soup. The cheeses complemented the delicate soup very well. I do not eat onions but I savored every onion strip in that soup.

Then came the salad and main dish combo. The Fresh Greens and Fruits Salad with Cesar Dressing was served with the main dish in order to cleanse our palates for the delectable main dish we were going to eat. The serving of the main dish was preceded by a live cooking presentation of our food. (SEE VIDEO!)
