Blue Post Boiling Crabs and Shrimps New Menu: Oysters, Hokkaido Scallops, Salmon, and More

So how was your Valentine’s Day? The My Davao City Team was privileged to have spent it with extraordinarily good food at one of Davao’s landmark food establishments. On February 14, Blue Post Boiling Crabs and Shrimps new menu items were launched.

Boiling Crabs and Shrimps continue to be one of the must-try restaurants in Davao showcasing the best-tasting, freshest seafood dishes. With their continuing commitment to delivering new seafood dishes to tickle the palates of locals and tourists, Blue Post introduced new menu items that can be best described as intriguing.

Appetizers

Their new menu items include five appetizer dishes to tease the taste buds of their patrons and offer new seafood flavors to relish.

First is a dish familiar to a lot of Filipinos: Crispy Fried Crablets.

This dish may sound and look simple. But to those who have tried it will attest that it offers a unique combination of flavors and textures. Dip it in one of Blue Post’s vinegar concoctions and it will surely get you excited and make you crave for more of their seafood delights.

Undeniably, the favorite of the My Davao City Team is the Garlic Fried Baby Octopus.

This dish is such a revelation. Most of us tried baby octopus for the first time and we didn’t really know what to expect. But we all agree that this is a must-try. After one piece, we just kept coming back to get another piece. And another. And another. We had to stop ourselves because we had more dishes to try.

Oysters

While Davao is easily a haven for seafood lovers, we are admittedly not abundant in oysters. Luckily, Blue Post Boiling Crabs and Shrimps has decided to bring in oysters and offer two oyster dishes in their menu.

Nothing can beat Fresh Oysters. Oysters are branded as “prima classe” which means having the best fresh mollusk there is. Good quality fresh oysters are actually considered a luxury item by many and it’s not a surprise why.

Blue Post follows a strict quality assurance method to make sure they only serve fresh oysters. So you only get fresh and plump oysters. It is laid out with lemon wedges on a bed of crushed ice.

Blue Post imports their oysters from the Philippines’ seafood capital, Roxas. Hint: Fresh oysters arrive every Wednesday so have your fill on a Wednesday evening, or on a Thursday or Friday.

For those who are not too fond of raw seafood, another oyster dish on the menu is a creamy and savory Grilled Oysters dish.

Grilling the oysters cooks it just right without drying it out. The oyster remains succulent with the creamy sauce not complementing the fleshy oysters. You can still taste the oyster meat but with that extra oomph from the sauce.

Salmon

Blue Post Boiling Crabs and Shrimps continue to expand their selection of main dishes to delight seafood lovers who want a little variety. And to draw in who want some Blue Post goodness but are allergic to crabs and shrimps.

New to their repertoire are two salmon dishes: Garlic Fried Salmon and Grilled Salmon.

Between the two, we like the Grilled Salmon better. The fish is moist and maintains its unique salmon taste when grilled just right, the way Blue Post does it.

Hokkaido Scallops

This is an appetizer but we saved it for the last part of this feature… as they say, save the best for last. The pièce de résistance among the new menu items of Boiling Crabs and Shrimps is the Hokkaido Scallops with Garlic Cream Sauce. At PhP1,800 for 6 pieces, it might sound a little too much indulgence.

But we think it is definitely worth every peso you pay for it. The scallops are imported from Hokkaido and once you try it, you will understand the hype and price.

Oysters are at P492 for 6 pieces and P984 for 12 pieces. Quite a good deal, I must say.

The Crispy Fried Crablets is P345 per serving and the Garlic Fried Baby Octopus is P414 per serving. Both are good but we highly recommend the baby octopus if you want to try something different.

Both salmon dishes are priced at P478 each.

And the Grilled Hokkaido Scallops are priced at P1,800 for 6 pieces. Again, it might seem like quite expensive. It is but we promise you it is worth it.
