Coca-Cola Donates 200 Computers

Coca-Cola Beverages Philippines, Inc. (CCBPI) has intensified its People First policy in the midst of the pandemic. They continue to support their associates and the communities they serve. Recently, a Coca-Cola donation of 200 computer units was distributed to their rank-and-file employees.

CCBPI hopes the computer units will serve as valuable tools for families struggling to facilitate distance learning for their children. Recipient Coca-Cola associates were chosen based on criteria such as employee attendance and performance. The number of their dependents – such as siblings or children – attending virtual classes was also taken into consideration. 

This Coca-cola donation of computer units will enable the users to have a better learning experience despite the challenges of schooling during the pandemic. According to CCBPI President and CEO Gareth McGeown “By providing these desktops, we hope to help enable effective learning among the children of our associates, and aid in the transition into this new setup. We’re doing our part to help ensure that no one gets left behind, and this is one less thing that our people have to worry about.”

Relief Efforts for Employees

The donation of computer units is just the latest in CCBPI’s employee support initiatives. The company has implemented measures to help ease associates’ anxieties during the lockdown. Coke Philippines has allocated PhP2 billion worth of assistance funds. This was used to so their employees can continue to receive their salaries during the quarantine.

The Company has deferred loan payments to cooperatives. Moreover, they have facilitated the advanced pay-out of 13th month pay. And most important of all, Coca-Cola Philippines has ensured full HMO coverage in the event that any associates or
dependents contract COVID-19.

Coca-Cola Donations to Community

CCBPI has also contributed to frontliners and local communities. They have donated over 2.2 million liters of beverages to almost 1,500 institutions. Beneficiaries include hospitals, non-government organizations, local government units, and
national government agencies. This Coca-Cola donation is worth more than PhP94 million.

Coke Philippines has also provided 174,000 personal protective equipment (PPEs) for 51,000 medical workers. Donations from Coca-Cola has benefitted 60,000 vulnerable families who received food packs.

Company Expansion

The company has also recently announced that they will invest an additional $22M (approximately PhP 1.1 billion) this 2020. This money will be used to further expand operations. New production lines across the country will be created. Consequently, job protection and job generation will follow.

Furthermore, Coke Philippines’ $1B recycling facility is now back on track. Its construction and operation are set to offer even more job opportunities to Filipinos.
