Holcim Supports Mindanao Recovery

Holcim Philippines, Inc. shared the company’s commitment to support the development of Mindanao. Holcim Mindanao recovery efforts highlight the company’s strengths in health and safety and commercial innovation.

The leading cement manufacturer held a virtual media briefing with the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) on September 02, 2020. Holcim presented their comprehensive Health, Cash, and Cost framework. Holcim Philippines Senior Vice President and Chief Finance Officer Jena Rojas provided an overview of the framework.

MinDA Assistant Secretary Romeo Montenegro, as well as representatives from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region XI and XII offices were also present.

Holcim’s Mindanao Recovery Framework

According to Rojas, “Our company responded quickly and effectively to the challenging situation and we remain confident in bouncing back and sustaining our commitment to support our partners. Our response is focused on three areas: Health, Cash and Cost.”

The Holcim Mindanao Recovery Framework focuses priority on keeping their employees healthy and safe.

Next, the company gives importance to ensuring that cash is available to support their needs.

Finally, Holcim is mindful about costs so they only spend for the most essential aspects of the business.

New Holcim Mindanao Leaders

Holcim also introduced their new Mindanao leaders. They are the new plant managers in Misamis Oriental and in Davao. Arnold Pepino is the new manager for Misamis Oriental. Meanwhile, Sam Manlosa is the new manager for Davao. Both are Mindanaoans.

Both Pepino and Manlosa talked about Holcim’s Mindanao recovery and relief efforts. They underscored the need to be more prudent on costs and to make operations safer.

Commitment to Mindanao

Holcim Philippines Senior Vice President for Sales William Sumalinog highlighted the company’s readiness to support Mindanao’s manufacturing industry. This commitment was discussed during the Mindanao Business Conference on September 10.

Sumalinog shared that the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has identified poor infrastructures as a factor in holding back manufacturing in the country.

Innovations

Holcim is well equipped to support partners build these structures in Mindanao. This is evident in the company’s recent Davao plant upgrade.

Holcim also rolled out new building solutions such as road infrastructure cement Solido. Also recently made available in the market is pavement repair solution SuperFastCrete.

According to Sumalinog “As you can see we are not slowing down especially at this time when the government has deemed it essential to continue upgrading infrastructures in the country.”
