Expanded Breastfeeding Promotion Act

Section 11 (Chapter 3) of Republic Act No. 10028 known as the Expanded Breastfeeding Promotion Act of 2009 institutionalizes the establishment of lactation or breastfeeding stations in all establishments.

Establishment of Lactation Stations. – It is hereby mandated that all health and non-health facilities, establishments or institutions shall establish lactation stations. The lactation stations shall be adequately provided with the necessary equipment and facilities, such as: lavatory for hand-washing, unless there is an easily-accessible lavatory nearby; refrigeration or appropriate cooling facilities for storing expressed breastmilk; electrical outlets for breast pumps; a small table; comfortable seats; and other items, the standards of which shall be defined by the Department of Health. The lactation station shall not be located in the toilet.

Last May, Uniqlo celelebrated its arrival in Davao and in Mindanao during the Uniqlo Davao Launch Event at SM Lanang Premier. Utsuka Taiko Drummers opened the program with a heart-pounding performance of traditional Japanese music. No doubt, the music added a unique Japanese vibe to the much-awaited event.

The program’s highlight is a Japanese sake ceremony. The opening of the barrel and the drinking of sake was led by no less than the Chief Operating Officer of Uniqlo Philippines Katsumi Kubota. He was joined by Uniqlo Area Manager Binnah Kim, Uniqlo SM Lanang Premier Store Manager Rose Velardo, Japanese Consul to Davao Tomoko Dodo, and SM Lanang Premier Operations Manager Therese Manalo.

Afterwards, Uniqlo at SM Lanang Premier opened their doors to the guests. Uniqlo gave VIPs, bloggers, and media personalities a tour of their SM Lanang Premier store. The spotlight was focused on Uniqlo’s LifeWear and unique clothing technologies. Of course, guests enjoyed a VIP shopping experience ahead of the store’s grand opening.
